Current Volunteer Opportunities:
- Marketing and Communications Committee Co-chair – Are you passionate about SLR? Here’s your chance to share that enthusiasm. We are looking for someone to co-chair this committee, with a specific focus on marketing SLR to the wider community. This person will co-ordinate our Open Houses, explore and lead external marketing initiatives and, along with committee members, represent SLR at community events for seniors.  - Member of Marketing & Communications Committee with a focus on helping to design marketing materials – Do you have experience with graphic design programs or want to keep your brain active by learning something new? Training is available using the graphic design app, Canva, to produce our Fall, Winter and Spring brochures and other marketing materials, as required. You can do this from your own home!  - SLR Ambassadors – Are you passionate about SLR and love talking to people? As an Ambassador, you’ll spend a few hours chatting with potential members at local senior events—no selling involved, just sharing your experiences and answering questions!  - Facilities and Equipment Coordinator (or Coordinators!) – Put your practical and technical skills to great use! We need one or two volunteers to help maintain SLR’s Audio/Visual and computer equipment and to ensure our facilities—both at Grosvenor Lodge and offsite are set up to support engaging, successful programs and events.  - SLR Setup Crew – Like working as part of a team? Our Setup Crew plays a key role in making SLR events successful. You’ll work with 5-8 other volunteers to arrange tables and chairs, set up signs, prepare refreshments, and assist with technical setup (as per instructions). After the event, you’ll help return everything to its original layout. Most events take place at Grosvenor Lodge, but some may be at other venues. Marketing & Communications Committee
This committee is a member of the Executive Council and the chair of the committee attends Executive Council meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
The tasks for committee members include:
- Developing marketing materials which present a professional image consistent with the SLR mission and objectives (includes general and program brochures, website, newsletter, President’s message, mass emails, Facebook and all external advertising)
 - Planning and organizing Open Houses and Program Previews
 - Organizing external advertising venues
 - Developing and maintaining the SLR website, providing materials and support for the Webmaster
 - Developing strategies for recruiting and retaining members, including running Focus Groups
 - Maintaining the SLR calendar
 
We enjoy brainstorming new ideas and creative ways of sending out the SLR message to our own members and to the broader London community.
We work to maintain SLR as a warm, friendly, peer-learning environment where everyone feels respected and part of the larger organization.

Facilities & Equipment
The F&E Coordinator is a member of the Executive Council and attends Executive
Council meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
The tasks for this role include:
• Responsibility for all SLR equipment and furnishings in the office and classrooms. This
includes ensuring maintenance as well as recommending and making new purchases.
• Maintaining computer software and installing updates
• Assisting with physical set-up of equipment for Program Previews and Open Houses
• Responsibility for AV training

Green & Blue Curriculum Committees
The two curriculum committees – Green and Blue – are responsible for creating the course topics available for study in each semester. Ideas for Study Groups, Activity Groups, Discussion Groups, and Interest Groups come from both SLR and committee members.
Suggestions are always welcome! Send us an email with your suggestions.
– The committees work together to ensure that SLR’s program for each term has a range of topics and formats, and courses of varying length (four week and ten week groups, for example).
– The committees also help to advertise social events and informally assesses the success of programs.
– Committee members may contact potential course leaders, liaising with them regarding programs and program needs such as the brochure description.
– The Social Committee chairperson also attends the meetings;
– We have fun developing new courses and are always looking for another member or two.
Social Committee
This committee is a member of the Executive Council and the chair of the committee attends Executive Council meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
The tasks for Social Committee members include:
- Assist at Previews and Open Houses
 - Make arrangements for end of term luncheons held in December and April, Meet and Greet luncheons and luncheons which may be held in October and in February
 - Advertise special events through the SLR Registrar and arrange for advertisement on the SLR website
 - Arrange for ticket sales for special events
 - Investigate and organize other social activities such as Nature Walks, Theatre and Gallery Trips
 - Have fun together!
